9 Jun 2009Dr. Vivencio Villaflor, co-chairman of the Multi-Agency Task Force in the fight against Influenza A (H1N1) in Dagupan, Pangasinan, that simple practices like washing of hands are important in avoiding infection by viral diseases.
Dr. Leonard Carbonell, Dagupan City health officer, and Dr. Jackson Soriano, provincial health officer of Pangasinan seconded that Filipinos should wash their hands thoroughly with soap.
Dr. Jennifer Ann Mendoza Wi, a member of the Department of Health, technical group on A(H1N1) said that coughing and sneezing under one’s own shirt and not on any outside part of the shirt can prevent the droplet spread. The flu is not airborne but droplet spread. Droplet spread – transmission of an infection through the projection of oral and nasal secretions by coughing, sneezing, or talking.
The suspected case in a hospital in Dagupan City has tested negative of A(H1N1) virus.
